Trismosin's 'Splendor Solis' is an exceptional illuminated alchemical manuscript from the 16th century. The Bibliotheca Philosophica Hermetica holds both older and newer versions of this text, and has published on the manuscript itself. American artist Laurie Lipton has skillfully recreated all 22 images from this manuscript with colour pencil. A selection of 6 drawings are available in the form of an oversized postcard.

The third Parable

'The old king, personifying the hardened fossilised forces, must die so that spiritual regeneration can take place. He sinks into the swamp of matter, and is reborn as a young king, radiant with new spiritual forces, which shine around his orb and sceptre.'

A description of the image is provided on the back of each card in four different languages (Dutch, English, German, and French).

All six postcards are also available as a set here.
