Trismosin's 'Splendor Solis' is an exceptional illuminated alchemical manuscript from the 16th century. The Bibliotheca Philosophica Hermetica holds both older and newer versions of this text, and has published on the manuscript itself. American artist Laurie Lipton has skillfully recreated all 22 images from this manuscript with colour pencil. A selection of 6 drawings are available in the form of an oversized postcard.

The fourth of the final stages

'To attain to the perfection of the art, the alchemist must continuously separate the earthly from the material then join them together again. This is pictured in the rising of the Sun from the Earth.'

A description of the image is provided on the back of each card in four different languages (Dutch, English, German, and French).

All six postcards are also available as a set here.
