Trismosin's 'Splendor Solis' is an exceptional illuminated alchemical manuscript from the 16th century. The Bibliotheca Philosophica Hermetica holds both older and newer versions of this text, and has published on the manuscript itself. American artist Laurie Lipton has skillfully recreated all 22 images from this manuscript with colour pencil. A selection of 6 drawings are available in the form of an oversized postcard.

The fourth flask of Transformation, under the government of the Sun

'The flask in which the alchemist's work is heated, is now sealed, and within it the material impurities separate from the spiritualised substance that is the goal of the hermetic work. This is pictured in the image of the winged dragon. As Hermes says: "You must separate the gross from the subtle, gently and with great sagacity." '

A description of the image is provided on the back of each card in four different languages (Dutch, English, German, and French).

All six postcards are also available as a set here.
