Postcard - ‘Hermes draws a circle’.
Hermes draws a circle, a triangle and a square around a man and a woman: they represent the sulphur and mercury from which the Philosopher's Stone originates; they are spirit and matter. Michael Maier (1568-1622) describes phases from the alchemical process in Atalanta fugiens, 1618.
There is a brief explanation of the image on the reverse of the card.
