Built in 1622, the House with the Heads / Huis met de Hoofden, home to the Embassy of the Free Mind, has a rich and remarkable history. In the 17th century, the Dutch Golden Age, Amsterdam was renowned for its tolerance and free press. Louis de Geer, the second owner of the house, and his son Laurens welcomed philosophers and freethinkers to the house, such as the Czech reformer and pansophist Jan Amos Comenius, and helped them get their works published. It is the same free thinking which characterises the library collection of the Embassy of the Free Mind today.

The beautiful facade of the house, with the six heads that gave the house its name, is now available as a jigsaw puzzle of 500 pieces, so you can study all the details and have fun too! A unique present, or a nice gift to treat yourself to.
